Review #56 Kadoya Pure Sesame Oil

Sesame oil. It is an essential ingredient for so many different dishes. From sesame noodles to cashew chicken, to teriyaki and stir fries; it is good for so many things. And thus, is one of the staples in my kitchen.

A lot of sesame oil has artificial colourings added, or preservatives. Of the few natural ones, many made in places such as Mexico, which is not known for it's sesame seeds, nor sesame oil.

Kadoya Pure Sesame Oil is the only sesame oil I use. Kadoya Pure Sesame Oil comes from Japan, which is world-renowned for it's sesame oil, and sesame oil is used in many traditional Japanese dishes. And there is only one ingredient in it, sesame seeds. It is all natural, non-GMO, vegan, and gluten free.

A little information about Kadoya Sesame Mills

Kadoya Sesame Mills was founded in 1858 in Shodoshima Island, Kagawa Prefecture, Japan, selling and manufacturing sesame oil. They have been in business for over 150 years! We provide a traditional, fine flavor, unchanged since the foundation of the company in 1858, due to means of the most advanced facilities and quality control.

Floating in the Seto Inland Sea, Shodoshima Island is ideally suited to the production of sesame oil because of its warm and steady climate throughout the year. This nature-blessed environment is the home of Kadoya Sesame Mills, where Kadoya keeps its traditional flavour alive with the latest facilities and quality control techniques.

To provide everyone with sesame oil as a natural health food, they manufacture all products with production lines where the focus is placed on quality rather than efficiency, always keeping the creed “tenderly, softly and carefully” in mind to maximize and not spoil the natural flavour of the sesame.

For raw materials, we select sesame seeds of superior quality from selected sesame from all over the world, including the African nations. Even then, only the best of the best is used.
These selected materials are processed using traditional techniques, from roasting, braising and squeezing to filtration, and their quality perfectly controlled with the most advanced facilities.
In particular, we give full attention to roasting to create a unique, fragrant flavor and color; this is the secret of Kadoya’s flavor.
In addition, their research laboratory is exploring more fragrant and better flavors of sesame oil.

Today, Kadoya Sesame Mills makes sesame oils, sesame seeds, and sesame pastes. They have been in business for 156 years. Their products are sold all over the world.

Now onto the review!

The packaging is quite beautiful. It comes in a thick glass bottle. It is wide at the bottom, and rappers at the top. There are lines that go around the bottle, and continue till the top of the bottle. The front label is in English and in Japanese, and the back label is in English and displays the Nutritional Facts and ingredients. Depending on the country, the label may vary. The cap is a bright yellow. The packaging makes this feels like it is quite expensive (though it is usually sold at a reasonable price).

Kadoya Pure Sesame Oil is available in 163 ml/5.5 ounce, 325 ml/11 ounce, 654 ml/ 22.1 ml bottles, and a 1.66 litre/56 ounce tin sizes.

Upon opening the bottle, you are hit with a deep, nutty, sesame scent. It smells very good, and I hoped that it would taste good as well.

And it did.

This dark-amber oil has a very light nutty, toasty taste. It has an intense, sesame seed flavour. It's flavour is nor overpowering or faint. It is not heavy. It has a smooth consistency and mouthfeel, and a thin consistency,

This is delicious, and I really liked this. It is perfect for stir fries, fritters, teriyaki, dressings and vinaigrettes, mayonnaise, flavoured-oils, and more.

Overall, Kadoya Pure Sesame Oil gets a 10 out of 10! I highly recommend Kadoya Pure Sesame Oil, and I use it myself all the time. It is perfect in many recipes, and we will feature in some original recipes soon! It is available around the world. For more information visit Kadoya's website here.
